Bibles for everyone

Everyone knows that the Bible is the best selling book of all time. Recently, that "everyone" has grown to include publishers. Realizing that they might be able to make a quick buck off of Christian consumers, Bible publishers are now offering specialized Bibles ranging from the uber-manly outdoor bible to the gender-neutral TNIV, from the Extreme Teen Bible to the elderly-friendly KJV Giant Print Bible, and so on.

The Tominthebox News Network is reporting that Zondervan Publishing is upping the ante in the Bible Wars. It seems that the Word of God is not just useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, but also for making a loud and proud statement about the spiritual maturity of its bearer. The Bibles mentioned above can tell you if a person is ruggedly masculine, an *extreme* teen, sympathetic to feminist sensibilities, or "vision-impaired," but Zondervan's Serious Scholar's Bible says so much more than that.

We all know that we should be studying our Bibles daily, for the renewing of our mind and so on. But really, who has the time? Unless you're in college or in a retirement home, you can't be expected to spend countless hours sitting in coffee shops studying your Bible, underlining key passages and highlighting important themes. Now, thanks to Zondervan, you don't have to!

The Serious Scholar's Bible will feature a deluxe pre-worn antique leather binding with browned and frayed paper edges. On the inside front and back covers there will be multiple Bible verses printed to look as if they have been written by hand along with numerous quotes from the church Fathers, G.K. Chesterton, Charles Stanley, Norman Vincent Peale and the book The Prayer of Jabez. Each page of the Bible will include at least one marked passage of Scripture with some books containing large highlighted and noted sections.
