Boycotting Companies who ban "Christmas"?

An interesting discussion topic: Should Christians celebrate Christmas? Honestly, I'm evaluating my stance on this question these days, only because I had never even thought about the question before now. I have always considered Christmas to be a very appropriate holiday for Christians, but not all Christians throughout history have agreed. Not to name drop, but C.H. Spurgeon, Calvin, and nearly all of the Puritans could be counted among those who genuinely believed that Christmas was actually offensive to God.?

Here's the blog that got me thinking:

Here's another one:

And here are a couple of updates on the Founders.org blog:

Now, make sure you get this disclaimer loud and clear: I am not against Christmas. I am simply in the process of evaluating my "official position" on it because I've never really thought about it before. I would also say that I think ALL areas of our lives should be examined, and if there are traditions, practices, or behaviors that are in opposition to what God's word says, then they should be abandoned. No sacred cows, in other words.

So, for the time being I will have to just go with the flow. In the absence of a definitive stance on the issue, I think the best thing to do is to avoid being disruptive and stick with the traditions, practices, and behaviors that are commonly accepted in my family and my church. But, my goal is obviously to try and figure out God's opinion on the matter as soon as possible.

Feel free to chime in if you have any thoughts on the matter, especially if you can back them up biblically or historically. I'll keep you posted as my thoughts become more definite on this one.

In the mean time, Merry Christmas!
